Canon Launch New Monochrome Commercial Digital Printers

Monochrome digital printers

Canon Copiers is delighted to announce this week the introduction of two new commercial digital printers, the imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series and the imageRUNNER Advance 8000 series. They complete what is already a very impressive battery of Canon commercial printers in the award-winning imageRUNNER Advance line-up. Last year saw the introduction of the C5000 series, the C7000 series and the C9060 and C9070 PRO which offer advanced digital printing to workgroups, departments and central reprographics departments alike. The new imageRUNNER Advance 6000 and imageRUNNER Advance 8000 bring all the same platform benefits as other imageRUNNER Advance machines – bio plastic structure, enhanced security options and user interface personalisation – while also offering manifold improvements over the older iR5000 and iR7000 mono models they’re replacing. The iR6000 provides professional monochrome digital printing suitable for short run printing, while the iR8000 offers digital mono printing in the light production category suitable for commercial printing.

For those unfamiliar with existing imageRUNNER Advance machines, they were the first in the industry to introduce high grade, fire retardant bio-plastic, made from plant derived organic sources, into their build. They are quicker than similarly priced rival machines, easier to use, with large intuitive touch-screen displays, come network ready, and for those concerned about their environmental impact, offer outstanding energy efficiency as well.

So, the imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series. This series is designed for serious office/professional mono printing, ideally suited to the needs of corporate marketing departments and the CRD sector. There are six models in the range – the iR-ADV 6055, the iR-ADV 6055i, the iR-ADV 6065, the iR-ADV 6055i, the iR-ADV 6075 and the iR-ADV 6075i all offering a variety of performance standards, the ‘i’ relating to the printer languages that are available on the devices. Models with the ‘i’ offer PCL as standard while all in the series come with UFR II and the option of Adobe Postscript for painfree printing of documents from business applications. All machines in the range also have the option of a Fiery providing significant benefits for central reprographics departments and commercial printers where VDP (Variable Data Printing), page separation, faster processing and hot folder printing is required.

Compared with the imageRUNNER 5000 series being replaced, the new imageRUNNER Advance 6000 brings enormous improvements. The first thing users will notice is the interface – an 8.4” or 10.4” colour SVGA screen as opposed to the 5.7” colour VGA screen of old. Capacity and media handling are much better too. The 6000 will accommodate paper weights of up to 256 gsm, as opposed to 200gsm on the iR5000 series and has a bypass capacity of 100 sheets, twice the iR5000’s. And with scanning, the changes really do leap off the page – the introduction of colour scanning, original paper weights of up to 228gsm, 300 sheet DADF capacity (against 100 sheets previously) and scanning speeds of up to 200ipm, again, double the previous series’ maximum speed. As for connectivity, the imageRUNNER Advance 6000 brings basic iSend functionality, with high compression PDF and will scan to and print from USB memory, a feature that wasn’t previously available on the iR5000. To top-it all off is the iR6000’s extensive array of finishing options. External Booklet Finisher. External Staple Finisher. External 2 hole punch and an external 2/4 hole punch.

Moving onto the iR-ADV 8000 digital printers. There’s the much improved display again. This time it’s a 10.4” colour SVGA. And the series has been designed to be as compact as possible. As a light production machine, it doesn’t have an A4 footprint but the intelligent Advanced Space build has made a huge difference. In terms of media handling, again, there are clear improvements. The iR-ADV 8000 will accommodate paper weights of up to 256gsm, has a slightly larger paper capacity than the previous series, double the bypass capacity and better media handling too – now A5 to SRA3. As for scanning, its similar improvements as on the iR-ADV 6000 – colour scanning, original paper weights of up to 220 gsm, 300 sheet DADF capacity and more than double the scanning speed – 200ipm. iSend functionality and Print Control options are as they are on the iR-ADV 6000, except PCL on the imageRUNNER 8000 Advance is optional. As far as finishing is concerned, the main change is that there are now 5 fold patterns available on the iR-ADV 8000, compared with just the one; Z-fold on the iR7000.

Canon Copiers are thrilled with the release of these two new ranges of Canon professional imageRUNNER Advance mono print solutions and looks forward to being the first to offer the new models to its customers from the 14th June launch date. Both series will be available for all to see at the upcoming IPEX exhibition.
