Canon 'Scan-and-Print' - Scanning to and Printing from Canon imageRUNNER Advance Photocopiers/MFP's 'on the Cloud'!

Canon and Canon Marketing Japan recently launched a new scan and print application for the Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers/MFP line-up. The new application will enable Canon imageRUNNER Advance users to scan documents directly from their photocopiers/copiers to Google Docs and Microsoft SharePoint Online, two of the market-leading solutions for document storage and document collaboration. Users will also be able to print from these applications to their Canon imageRUNNER photocopiers/copiers, on-the-cloud (when mobile). Scan-and-Print, which will be available to owners of Canon imageRUNNER Advance for free, was first launched in Japan around mid-December, and will later be released globally, first in the US and then in European, other Asian and Australian markets.

The Scan-and-Print Offering

The Canon Scan-and-Print print application has been built from within the Canon Multifunction Embedded Application Platform (MEAP). Canon Scan-and-Print will allow users of Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers/copiers to scan paper-based documents using their MFPâ..s and store that scanned data directly to an â..on-the-cloudâ.. service, such as Microsoft SharePoint or Google Docs, without the need for a PC anywhere in between. In addition, the Canon imageRUNNER Advance Scan-and-Print software provides the possibility of printing mobile-stored files using the Direct Print Expansion Kit or PS Expansion Kit.

By making it so much easier for users of Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers/MFPâ..s to integrate their devices directly with either Microsoft SharePoint Online or Google Docs, the industryâ..s leading on-the-cloud/mobile file storage services, Canon Scan-and-Print opens up a whole new range of possibilities for owners of Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers/copiers and enables organisations with limited IT facilities to truly capitalise on the potential of the existing devices in their networks.

When documents have been scanned directly from a Canon imageRUNNER Advance MFP to an on-the-cloud service using the Canon Scan-and-Print application, they may then be accessed using any number of devices â.. not just PCâ..s - but handheld PDA devices and smartphones and whatâ..s more, they may be shared with multiple users and across any number of locations. The Canon Scan-and-Print application thus makes it much easier for Canon imageRUNNER Advance MFP users to effectively manage their documents than would be possible leaving them in paper form. In fact, it would certainly follow that Scan-and-Print can probably save organisations a great deal of both time and money; by quickly transferring documents to a virtual space where they can be accessed with ease and by as many or as few users as is desired, rather than printing off paper copies and distributing them manually, Scan-and-Print vastly reduces a companyâ..s paper and postal burden and the time and expense it would normally take to get documents where theyâ..re needed.

Canon is hoping to develop further solutions to facilitate on-the-cloud use in the future.

Canon imageRUNNER Advance Photocopiers ... the Most Impressive Multifunction Printers (MFP's) on the Market

The first Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers/MFP's were released in September 2009 and since that time, theyâ..ve been widely recognised as the leading series of multifunction printers (MFPâ..s) on the market. Soon after the launch of the first devices in the range, Printweek Magazine published a glowing review of the Canon imageRUNNER Advance C9000 Pro model. Then, the On Demand Expo in the US praised the Canon imageRUNNER Advance 8000 for its impressive, fast, black and white output. Earlier this year, the European Digital Print Association (EDP) honoured the Canon imageRUNNER Advance 9060 Pro colour multifunction printer (MFP) with a coveted EDP Award.

The Canon imageRUNNER Advance series of photocopiers is the first in the industry to incorporate high grade, fire retardant bio-plastic into construction. Canon imageRUNNER Advance devices are also Energy Star certified, offering some of the lowest Total Energy Consumption (TEC) ratings in their class. In fact, Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers typically consume over 50% less energy than many previous Canon models, using as little as 1.5 watts of energy in sleep mode. Besides their industry-leading environmental credentials, Canon imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers/MFPâ..s also offer improved printing technology for greater productivity and higher quality output. And with the most advanced user interface and menu to date, the imageRUNNER Advance series of photocopiers/MFP's provide users with highly intuitive, user-friendly access.
