The imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP
Tuesday, 01 July 2008 15:00
Canon have added to their imagePRESS range with the imagePRESS C6000/C6000VP. With print speeds of 60 ppm and up to 300gsm, these new machines are more affordable than the imagePRESS C7000, whilst still maintaining the same high durability and productivity.
Having established themselves in the market of digital production printing with the previous imagePRESS range, Canon have decided to broaden their range releasing the imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP. These new machines incorporate the same features that made the imagePRESS C7000 so popular, including V-Toner, E-Drum and T-Developer, which work with an Advanced Image Transfer Belt and an oil-less Twin Fusing system. They can reach speeds of 60 ppm, with resolutions of up to 1200 dpi.
The imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP could take colour digital production printing to whole new and more affordable level. These machines are aimed primarily for corporate print room and pay for print markets, but with the more affordable pricing compared to the imagePRESS C7000, the imagePRESS C6000/VP could reach more markets than was ever thought possible. The imagePRESS C6000/VP can potentially print, uninterrupted, for two hours as their maximum media supply is 10,000 sheets which can be fed from up to 8 different sources.
Canon only introduced the world to their imagePRESS range in November 2006 with the introduction of the imagePRESS C1, which many people saw as a giant leap forward in print technology. The imagePRESS C7000 was released just under a year later and proved a success in the market, selling over 300 units across Europe. The imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP production photocopiers have been produced to deliver the same high quality and fast prints as the C7000 but at a lower purchase cost. The success of the imagePRESS C6000 has already been indicated when it was awarded the Best of Show Award in the Process Colour Digital Printing Equipment category at this year's ON DEMAND Best of Show Awards.
It has been stated by Canon that the imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP will maintain the compatibility with the paper feeding and post-press accessories of the imagePRESS C7000VP. These accessories now include In-line finishing with Perfect Binding which has been claimed to make it easy for the print provider to achieve perfectly bound documents or high-quality books.
The imagePRESS range of digital production photocopiers seems to have filled a gap in the market by producing machines that can potentially deliver the look and feel of offset printing for short-run production colour printing. With the introduction of the imagePRESS C6000 and imagePRESS C6000VP it seems that Canon could be paving the way for more affordable digital production printers, without compromising on quality.
