Canon imageRUNNER Photocopiers and MFPs at BERTL 2011 Awards
Sunday, 05 June 2011 12:00
Photocopier News - General News
BERTL, the world's leading reprographics testing and research laboratory, has announced the winners of its 2011 Spring "Pick" Awards. Incredibly, Canon was selected as winner in a total of eight awards categories, including some of the most prestigious in the programme. While some winning devices ar only available in the USA, two of the most sought-after category winners were for photocopiers/MFPs currently on sale here in the UK - the Best Departmental Monocrhome A3 MFP award-winner, the imageRUNNER 2530 and the Best Midsized Workgroup Colour MFP, the Canon imageRUNNER Advance C5051.
BERTL
The Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories Inc. (BERTL) is one of the world's leading independent testing laboratories and provides objective, independent product evaluatuion reports and comparative analyses on a whole host of imaging devices and software workflow solutions. BERTL is very strict in prohibiting any manufacturer influence over its product evaluations and bases all of its opinions, ratings and awards on a combination of its own rigorous analyses and research.
BERTL's primary focus is always the experience of the end-user and all evaluation reports, customer satisfaction research, the BERTL Awards and the company's product ratings are all conduction at BERTL's expense, purely for the benefit of its subscriber base. With testing on devices from all the world's major imaging manufacturers, BERTL is able to publish one of the most comprehensive websites, with evaluation reports, comparisions data, vertical market research and other material on photocopiers, printers, scanners, MFPs, fax machines, production equipment as well as wide format devices.
As BERTL has matured as an organisation, so have it's selection criteria for the BERTL Awards. They've left behind the feed and speed productivity criteria, the artificial reliability testing and the theoretical pricing lists to focus more on the user experience and typical business dynamics.
It's very easy to separate devices by speed but it can often place photocopiers/MFPs of entirely different abilities side-by-side. Different settings will have different workflow demands, varying security requirements, various document production needs and less or more and many different categories of users - so it's really environment-based classifications which make the most sense. Four of the 2011 awards categories are based on these key considerations with 'desktop', 'departmental', 'workgroup' and 'production'.
The Canon Photocopiers/MFPs/Printers Awards Slew
Canon walked-away with a total of eight awards for its photocopiers, printers and MFP's. For Best Eight-Colour, 24 Inch Graphic Arts Large Format Printer, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300S was honoured, Best Departmental Colour A4 MFP/Photocopier went to the Canon imageRUNNER Advance C1030, Best Monochrome High Performance Compact Desktop Printer went to the Canon imageRUNNER LBP3470, Best Security Feature-Rich Monochrome Desktop Printer went to the Canon imageRUNNER LBP3560, Best Soho Monochrome Desktop Printer went to the imageCLASS LBP 6650 and Best Micro and Small Office Workgroup Monochrome MFP went to the Canon imageCLASS MF4450.
Two of the most sought-after awards - Best Departmental Monochrome A3 Photocopier/MFP and Best Mid-Sized Colour Workgroup MFP/Photocopier were also awarded to Canon photocopiers/MFP's with the Canon imageRUNNER 2530 taking the former and the Canon imageRUNNER Advance C5051, the latter.
Canon themselves have been delighted with the success at BERTL's Best Awards. With such a large number of photocopier, photocopiers/MFPs and printers winning awards, Junichi Yoshitak from Canon's Imaging Systems Group had this to say,
"The 2011 BERTL's Best Awards showcase Canon's unique ability to provide category-leading solutions across a wide range of output environments... With end-users providing greater perfomance and flexibility from their output devices, Canon continues to draw upon its expertise in developing advanced imaging technologies to meet today's business needs."
BERTL, renowned for their impartiality in testing devices from all the world's leading manufacturers of photocopiers, printers and MFPs, really pushed the boat out in singling-out Canon for praise,
"In the spring 2011 voting session, BERTL's analysts were tremendously impressed with how Canon's devices performed during our testing process... The quality and dedication of the people at Canon is apparent in their devices which have won these prestigious awards," said Art Wayne, President of BERTL Inc.
Best Midsized Workgroup MFP/Photocopier - The imageRUNNER Advance C5051
The Canon imageRUNNER Advance C5051 was honoured by BERTL with the prestigious Best Midsized orkgroup MFP Award. Earlier in the year, it had received the highest possible rating in its BERTL assessment, 5 stars, being praised for its "exceptional image quality when compared with competitors in its class."
In the judges' assessment at this year's awards, the photocopier/MFPs outstanding image quality was noted, as well as the highly functional Advanced Box shared folders feature, which enables files to be stored and accessed from more than one location, including PC's or other devices of the imageRUNNER Advance network.
Best Departmental A3 Monochrome Photocopier/MFP - The imageRUNNER 2530
Of all the awards on offer, the Best A3 Departmental Monochrome photocopier/MFP has to be one of the most highly-prized. So many organisatiosn today require affordable monochrome devices of this sort to provide reliable, fool-proof daily copying and printing that if manufacturers get it right, this is where they'll do most of their business. So Canon did remarkably well to achieve the BERTL's Best gold standard with the imageRUNNER 2530.
What particularly stood-out for BERTL was the photocopiers great media handling capabilities with media of up to 126gsm and paper sizes of up to 11" by 17".
Another feature which BERTL highlighted, not available on many competitor machines was the imageRUNNER 2530's colour scanning. The iR2530 can scan in full colour or monochrome and share documents instantly, scanning to email, ftp and smd and the iR2530 also features iFax and Super G3 Fax functionality to boot.
It's been another astonishing slew of awards for Canon at 2011's "Spring Pick", once again confirming Canon's status as the benchmark for quality when it comes to photocopiers, printers and MFP's.
