The Canon ImagePRESS Printer Wins On Demand Best of Show Award
Thursday, 14 May 2009 11:46
Released in the last quarter of 2008, the Canon imagePRESS 1110, imagePRESS 1125 and imagePRESS 1135 printers have introduced black and white digital press printing to the, already award winning, imagePRESS range from Canon. These devices won the Best of Show award in monochrome digital printing equipment category at this years ON DEMAND event.
The yearly ON DEMAND Conference and Exposition encompasses, displays and examines all the latest technologies involved in the digital print production industry. Held in Pennsylvania, the ON DEMAND event is an opportunity for commercial printers, publishers and in-plant printing professionals to discuss print strategies and new print technologies. With an exposition hall displaying an impressive gathering of digital print technology and conferences held on topics such as sales and business development strategies, businesses management and web to print technologies, the ON DEMAND Event attracts print professionals from all over the World.
The ON DEMAND Conference and Exposition gives an insight into future printing industry developments, and this year saw the fourth Best in Show awards, recognising leaders in digital print technology and solutions. The prestigious ON DEMAND Best of Show awards are judged in ten categories by professionals from the graphic arts and printing community. All professionals chosen to judge the Best of Show awards have extensive knowledge of the print market and it's technologies and are accomplished within this field. This year the Canon imagePRESS 1110/1125/1135 were awarded an ON DEMAND Best of Show award in the Monochrome Digital Printing Equipment category.
To be eligible for the Best of Show awards the products need to have been released recently (after 2008 for the 2009 awards), be in use during the exhibition and be generally available at the time of the ON DEMAND Exposition and Conference. These awards recognise leading-edge vendors and their leading innovations.
The new black and white imagePRESS models have been designed for print production environments needing a mid-volume production device that can deliver black and white prints to a very high standard and handle a diverse range of media. This impressive versatility and high quality output was recognised at the ON DEMAND 2009 Exposition and Conference.
After the success of the colour imagePRESS models, the imagePRESS 1110, 1125 and 1135 have been built using the same technology platform of the imagePRESS C7000VP range to introduce new levels of print quality, versatility and productivity into black and white mid-volume production. These imagePRESS models have an extensive range of finishing options that can be custom configured to meet the needs of a variety of tasks.
Canon also received an honourable mention at ON DEMAND in the Colour Digital Equipment category for the imagePRESS C1+. The imagePRESS C1+ has proven to be a popular choice within graphic and creative markets, being the first device of it's size and speed to offer a clear toner station, helping to greatly expand impressive design features that can be included in prints.
Canon were said to have been "thrilled and honoured" to receive the best in show award for the imagePRESS 1110/1125/1135 and an honourable mention for the imagePRESS C1+.

- Canon is Magic according to Gartner MQ MFP & Printer resultsCanon has been lifted into the realms of the few, according to Gartner - leading technical research company. According to Gartner "leaders are the most capable in providing MFPs, printers and the associated printing solutions and services, regardless of customer location. Providers in the Leaders quadrant offer the most extensive product portfolio relative to their peers, and they have the broad channel capability to deliver the products to customers where they want to procure them"
- Is Your MFP or Copier SecureThe increasing affordability of large amounts of digital space has meant that much of our information has become ever more vulnerable in recent years. It seems that almost every week, there’s another news item about citizens’, patients’ or consumers’ data having been lost, misplaced or somehow gone astray. Twenty years ago, it would have required hulking great servers to carry 1 gigabyte of data. Today, that sort of storage potential is on offer to anyone with a trouser pocket and just a few pounds. In fact, many organisations give away terabytes of space to potential new customers and acquaintances as they used to dish out company biros. Instead of chewing the end of your embossed pen, you may well discover a much less comfortable freebie hanging on the edge of your lip, a stubby USB stick with room on-board for the entire medical records of a UK county. It’s obvious that the huge strides forward in digital technology carry with them equally huge risks. Data is increasingly exposed and more and more of it is turning up in the wrong places. Companies and public bodies are now frequently landed with debilitating law suits and many are left reeling with both reputations and bank balances in tatters.
- Office Equipment Rankings and Awards - A Guide for the PerplexedBuying new office equipment really shouldn’t have to be a gamble. But the risks many business solutions consumers take when purchasing a new office copier, office scanner, office printer or multifunction device, could place them and potentially their whole company finances in great jeopardy. To be fair to these customers, where exactly are businesses supposed to turn for sound and unbiased advice when they’re looking to renew/replace their office equipment lease or purchase new devices of their own? Well, the answer is that sadly, there is no simple answer. There’s no Top Gear for office machinery, and disappointingly, nor is there an accompanying Top Gear buyer advice style magazine. But for someone who has worked in the reprographics industry for years, there are several places that office equipment customers should know about and touch base with when looking for decent, reasonably impartial product information. So, for those of you who are currently searching for the latest and best in office equipment (http://www.canoncopiers.co.uk/) - be that a copier, scanner, printer or an increasingly popular MFD, we bring you our Office Equipment - Guide for the Perplexed.
- The Canon copier imageRUNNER 5000 Series has been replaced by the imageRUNNER AdvanceIt only seems like yesterday that Canon released the imageRUNNER 5000 black and white photocopier/printer, a multifunction printer that was one of the first to introduce high quality and high speed scanning, came with an impressive, highly intuitive user display and offered unusually broad media handling. But now, in what has to be Canon’s most prolific period in copier innovation to date, the company has decided to up its game yet another notch, releasing the stunning imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series. For those organisations looking for the very best in medium duty mono printing and now with colour scanning and a vast array of other improvements as standard, the Canon imageRUNNER Advance 6000 series will be the most obvious choice.
