- Canon Multifunction Printer Buyers Lab Awards 2010 WinnersAwards season in the world of office equipment is well and truly under way. The most eagerly awaited of all, is Buyers Laboratory Inc.'s (BLI) ‘Pick of the Year’ which have been announced over the last couple of days. It's clear, Canon's unprecedented research and development drive into improving the energy efficiency and environmental impact of its multifunction printers has really paid off. 5 different multifunction printer manufacturers were awarded with ‘Outstanding Achievement‘ for energy efficiency but only Canon laser multifunction printers were awarded more than one, in fact, make that 4 – quite unprecedented in both BLI's and Canon's history.
- Canon imageRUNNER Advance 9060 Pro Printer Wins EDP Multifunction Printing AwardAnother month and yet another accolade for Canon. This time, the European Digital Press Association (EDP) has honoured Canon’s flagship imageRUNNER Advance 9060 Pro multifunction printer (http://www.canoncopiers.co.uk/photocopiers/colour-photocopiers/canon-imagerunner-advance-c9060-pro.html) with a coveted EDP Award. Impressed with the engine’s speed, higher paper capacity, superb software integration and consistently good quality output, the EDP Technical Committee singled-out the imageRUNNER Advance 9060 Pro as 2010’s ‘Best High End Multifunction Printer’. Here, we'll tell you a little more about the EDP Awards, what impressed the judging committee and how Canon UK has greeted the news.
- New Canon Black and White Photocopiers/Printers – A Winner at On DemandOnly last month we reported here at Canon Copiers on the surprise release of two new photocopiers (http://www.canoncopiers.co.uk/photocopiers/black-and-white-photocopiers/) ranges from Canon, the iR ADV 6000 and the iR ADV 8000, which complete the formidable imageRUNNER Advance portfolio. The iR ADV 8000 is Canon’s solution for light production monochrome printing and comes in to replace the ageing iR 7000 range. It’s an impressive package – more compact and versatile than its predecessor and also much easier to use. And even before the Canon imageRUNNER advance 8000’s full UK release (which is taking place in June), it’s already been singled-out for praise by a leading industry authority. The 8105 black and white photocopier/printer (http://www.canoncopiers.co.uk/photocopiers/black-and-white-photocopiers/canon-imagerunner-advance-8105-digital-printer.html), the highest performance model in the 8000 range has just been awarded Honourable Mention at the Best of Show Awards at this year’s On Demand expo in the US.
- China Takes the Lead in the Global Printing BusinessIf you were to ask any commentator on global commerce, one of the most easily discernable features of the last decade or so has surely been the growing preponderance of China, as the country continues on its rapid trajectory of unprecedented economic development, both importing and exporting in ever growing quantities and truly defining the world markets when it comes to heavy industry and the trade in raw goods. As China’s position in the global marketplace becomes increasingly dominant, it should perhaps come as no surprise that the exact nature of China’s involvement in commerce is shifting, with growth in yet uncharted territories.
- International Exhibition, IPEX, Reveals Major Shifts in the Global Printing IndustryFor the eighth time now, Birmingham National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in the UK plays host to the International IPEX Exhibition; the printing industry’s opportunity to come together, demonstrate new products and innovations and explore future business opportunities. This year, IPEX will be taking place slightly later than usual, between 18th and the 25th of May 2010, to avoid any possible collision with UK and international holidays. And with no reason to miss it, IPEX 2010 is looking like it could be the largest yet, with over 1000 exhibiting companies, from more than 40 different countries. Between them, they’ll be occupying an impressive gross floor space of 100,000 square metres, across 11 adjoining exhibition halls. But what should really get the industry talking about this year, is the quite unprecedented explosion of exhibitors from the digital printing sector, with ‘Digital Print’ now occupying an astonishing 38% of the IPEX’ total floor space. Here, we’ll take a look at the changing face of IPEX and assess just what this increasingly influential global showcase can tell us about the state of the printing industry today.
